History

The Frederick Gaelic Football Club was founded in the summer of 2006  to provide a place to play for people whose schedules made playing with  the other two local clubs difficult or impossible.  Frederick GFC was also founded to bring the fast and furious field sports of Ireland to Americans who had never had the opportunity to see or play them.  Some of the first recruits came from hockey teams at SkateFrederick.

That first year saw the club grow from 1 to 5 members.  The 2007 season has been a resounding success thus far.  We have experienced tremendous growth and look to keep adding.  As of July 2007 we have over 15 members and have played our first official match with Baltimore GAA.  We will be adding a women’s team in 2008 and are vigorously recruiting women to start learning the game.
